Terms and refunds
Last updated November 6, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Cat Meadow, who runs The Meadow (thecatmeadow.com). By using the site, you agree to them.
What The Meadow is
You describe a cat in your own words. An AI drawing assistant turns the description into a pixel-art cat, and the cat joins a shared meadow with its own memorial page. The pixel cat is an interpretation of your words, not an exact likeness.
Your account
You need an account, made with your email address, to add a cat. Keep access to that email safe, because it’s how you sign in. You’re responsible for what’s posted from your account.
Free week and keeping a cat
- Each new cat is free for 7 days. You can have up to 3 cats on their free week at once.
- To keep a cat in the Meadow forever, you pay $10 once, in US dollars. There is no subscription and nothing renews.
- If you don’t keep a cat, it leaves the Meadow when its free week ends. We save it for 30 more days so you can still bring it back. After that it’s permanently deleted.
- “Forever” means for as long as we run the site. If we ever have to close it, we’ll give owners at least 60 days’ notice by email and a way to save their cat’s memorial page.
Refunds
If you’re not happy, send us a message from the Contact page within 30 days of paying and we’ll refund the full $10. No reason needed. After a refund, the cat goes back to the free-week rules above. If we remove a memorial for breaking these terms, we don’t refund it.
What you post
The name and description you write stay yours. By posting them, you let us show them, along with the pixel cat, on the site and in links people share. Please post only about a real pet, and keep it kind. You may not post anything that:
- is hateful, harassing, sexual or violent;
- is about a real person rather than a pet, or mocks someone’s loss;
- includes someone else’s private information; or
- is spam or advertising.
We can hide or remove memorials that break these rules, and close accounts that keep breaking them. Anyone can report a memorial from its page.
Using the site fairly
Don’t try to break, overload or scrape the site, or get around the limits on free previews.
No guarantees
We work hard to keep the Meadow running, but we provide it “as is”. We can’t promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility to you for anything related to the site is limited to the amount you’ve paid us in the past 12 months.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we’ll update the date at the top and email owners. These terms are governed by the laws of California, USA. Questions? See Contact.
