The Meadow (thecatmeadow.com) is run by Cat Meadow. This page explains what we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. We collect as little as we can.
What we collect
- Your email address, when you sign in. We use it to sign you in and to tell you about your cats. We don’t send marketing emails.
- Your cat’s name and description, and the pixel look our drawing assistant makes from them. These are public: anyone visiting the Meadow can see them.
- Payment records. When you pay $10 to keep a cat, Stripe handles your card. We never see or store your card number. We keep a record that the payment happened and which cat it was for.
- Messages you send us from the Contact page, with the email you give so we can reply.
- Reports. If you report a memorial, we keep what you wrote and which account sent it.
- A short-lived usage count. To limit free previews, we store a scrambled code made from your IP address and browser. We can’t turn it back into your IP address, and we delete it after 7 days.
Who helps us run the site
We share only what each service needs to do its job:
- Anthropic (Claude) reads your cat’s name and description to draw the pixel cat. Anthropic doesn’t use this to train its models.
- Stripe processes payments.
- Supabase stores accounts and cats, and sends sign-in emails.
- Vercel hosts the website.
We don’t sell your information or share it with advertisers. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
Storage in your browser
Your browser keeps your sign-in so you stay signed in, and a draft of the cat you’re working on so it isn’t lost if you sign in partway through. Signing out clears your sign-in.
How long we keep things
- Cats you keep forever stay until you ask us to remove them.
- A cat that isn’t kept is saved for 30 days after its free week ends, so you can still bring it back. After that it’s permanently deleted.
- Messages to us are deleted a year after we’ve dealt with them.
- Your account stays until you ask us to delete it. We may keep payment records longer when the law requires it.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to fix it, or ask us to delete your account and cats. Send a request from the Contact page using the email you sign in with, and we’ll reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have more rights under local law. We’ll honor them.
Children
The site is for adults. Accounts are for people 13 and older, and paying requires being 18 or having a parent’s permission.
Changes
If we change this page in a way that matters, we’ll update the date at the top and tell signed-in owners by email.
